H.G. Smith is the founder of Spursmith.com, he has grown fond of the internet and it's possibilities, and with his added background in the bit and spur business, he decided to open a website to allow western item collectors to congregate in order for them to have a place where they can receive information, exchange collectables, and experience a bit of culture.

"I initially started this website in June 2000, with aspirations of sharing my knowledge as well as learning from others. It was created in hopes of providing a refuge from larger auction sites where the true western collectables are often misrepresented, misplaced or lost within the vast array of general collectables. I want this to become a place where western item collectors can turn to for quality items and information. This will only be the beginning to all the possible resources that Spursmith.com will provide to you. Within a few months I hope to expand this site with a full buy, sell, exchange center that will allow people to circulate their items. I have been collecting for about 5 years now and I love it. When I started I had the good fortune to be introduced to some of the oldest collectors in the country and I really do respect their knowledge. Here at Spursmith.com we will always strive to be honest and forthright with our visitors, that might mean that what we have to say about an item may not be exactly what you want to hear. Our statement is not necessarily an appraisal, or price the item might bring, we're just trying to be fair and informative from our point of view and experience Western collectors are a small sized group, however, many of us are fortunate enough to see each other a number of times a year at various shows.
